Cake Sculptures for Albert Pujols (St. Louis Cardinal & League MVP)
and his wife Deidre.

These cakes were created for their 10th Anniversary Party on New Year's Eve ('09-'10).

Every sculpture starts with a strong frame and
then stacking and sculpting the cake begins.

And more sculpting. . . then a crumb coat of icing to
keep the cake fresh.

Here both cakes are fully sculpted and ready to be decorated.

The heads of the sculptures had a base of modeling chocolate that was covered with rolled fondant.
The fondant was hand sculpted to create the life-like features.

Here's a close-up of the P-U-J-O-L-S and number
5 on the the back of the uniform.

Fondant was used to cover the torsos of the sculptures.
(Thank you to our sponsor--Carma Massa Ticino Tropic fondant.)

The sculptures were documented by the official photo and video crews.

Now, that's a hottie.

Roland and Marsha Winbeckler with the cake sculptures.
Roland and Marsha spent approximately 200 man/woman hours creating these two sculptures. (100 for prep work ahead of time and 100 on site.)

Pipe and drape was put completely around the sculptures for a dramatic "reveal" at the party.

The party decorations were hot pink,
but the weather in Kansas City was blue cold!
