Info On Sponsoring Any of Roland & Marsha's Classes

Q: How do I get the Winbeckler's to teach in my area?

A: Either you or someone you know could sponsor a class. A sponsor receives either a per-student stipend or, with enough students, a free class. A sponsor's responsibilities usually include promoting the class, taking deposits and payments from students, providing a classroom and misc. supplies, etc.

To sponsor a class(es), please read the class info above and this class sponsor sheet then e-mail us to let us know which class(es) you would like to offer and a list of three date choices in your order of preference. We will try to accommodate your first choice. When choosing dates, please check the schedule below for any months that are already taken. We usually schedule just one class trip per month and do not schedule classes in July or August unless they are in conjunction with our travels to the ICES Convention.

Airbrush Techniques Class
1-Day Class (9am-4pm with short lunch break)
Held at the Sugar Arts Institute, Ephrata, PA

Airbrush & Compressor and all other supplies furnished for class use.

Learn how to get the most from an airbrush and how to create impressive designs using this versatile cake decorating tool. Students will learn how to operate and care for an airbrush, what types of airbrushes work well for cake decorating (surprisingly, more expensive does not necessarily mean better), what exercises to practice to gain better control, how to cut and use custom stencils, and how to add special effects to their cakes.

Don't worry if you don't have an airbrush, an airbrush set (airbrush/compressor) is furnished for use in the class. There will also be some available for purchase after the class.

The Winbeckler's will share their many years of airbrushing experience, and students will leave class feeling more comfortable with an airbrush, be ready to use the designs and techniques taught in class, as well as have the confidence to get the most from their airbrush.

October 15-16, 2015
Sculpture with Internal Frame Class
2-Day Class (9am-4pm with short lunch break)
Held at the Sugar Arts Institute, Ephrata, PA

All supplies furnished for class.

Learn to create gravity-defying edible sculptures. The Winbeckler's will share their knowledge of which materials and icings work best for sculptures, how to create the internal support, how to shape and sculpt a figure, and how to form the features that make their sculptures "come to life."

Each student will sculpt and decorate a figure approx. 18" tall that includes an internal support. Students will enhance their figure using hand-molded decorations with intricate details that will set their sculpture apart.

There will also be a brief discussion on how to create various types of internal support for other types of sculptures.

The basic techniques shown in class are the same used to create other figures including the Winbeckler's famous life-size sculptures.
